BMS at Outsiders House

Before Spring Break, Mrs. Turner took the 8th graders on a trip to The Outsiders House Museum in Tulsa. Several weeks leading up to the trip, students read the novel and watched the movie. They spent weeks studying the novel, its characters, the storyline, then completing it with an essay where they got to learn how to complete an argument over if Johnny was innocent or guilty. If you haven’t read or seen The Outsiders, that’s one of the main characters (by the way, Mrs. Turner and the 8th graders highly recommend you read it).

Students got to enjoy seeing the house where part of the movie was filmed. They thought it was interesting it was right here in the Tulsa area. They got to explore the house, seeing several props, pieces of clothing the characters wore, signatures, a car used, and even Ponyboys famous desk. The experience brought joy to Mrs. Turner as she got to see her students learn and explore one of her favorite novels written and filmed. Thank you to Mr. Hurst, Mrs. Gray, and Mrs. Terry for helping and coming to explore!
