Civil Rights Movement Project Pics

Beggs Middle School 6th grade class has worked fervently this year on a variety of projects, but none nearly as in depth as their last project.

Black History Month is an important time to which our students accepted a challenge and thrived with it.  During this past month, we discussed from the days of slavery all the way up to the 1950’s & 60’s of the very critical Civil Rights Movement.

Each student was then tasked with the job of researching and choosing a Civil Rights Activist, gathering data about that activist and putting together a presentation on that chosen person.

The students absolutely loved doing this project and learned so much about each individual.  Upon completion of their projects, tables were set up in the 5th/6th grade building and judges voted for the top 3 projects based off of research, following instructions, data gathered and proof to support their beliefs as to why this person was considered a Civil Rights Activist.

The following are the projects of the 6th grade students. They did exceptional work.
