Coach David Tenison

We are saddened, yet happy to announce the retirement of Beggs High School Head Football Coach David Tenison.

Thank you for the years that you gave to Beggs Public Schools and our student athletes.

A few words from Coach T:

Very few people get to work for 34 years at something that gives them great joy and walk away, when the time comes, on their terms.
I am forever grateful for the support, encouragement, and voice of reason from my Rock, my wife Saundra who followed me through high school football (Bixby), college football (NSU NAIA Runner Up 1980 - Go Redmen), and 34 years of coaching.
I was fortunate to be able to enjoy this with my 3 sons by coaching all of them, Zac, Jason, and Damon.
I have had a tremendous coaching career (34 years and 72 playoff games) with a couple of the best mentors and friends in the business in Coach Charlie Cooper and Coach Allan Trimble and got to go into battle with so many great coaches and friends I dare not try to mention all of them here. Besides the ones I coached with, there are countless numbers of friends I coached against. The relationships created by being a part of the lives of literally thousands of young men is indescribable which is the WHY we do what we do.
I will forever be grateful for the 6 school districts that trusted me enough to allow me to coach and be a part of the lives of their young men: Tahlequah, Owasso, Catoosa, Kellyville, Jenks, and Beggs.
I thanked God everyday for allowing me to coach the best sport in the world and pray that I was salt and light in the communities where I coached.
I thank God and give Him all credit for my career and the lessons He has taught me about life. I am looking forward to new opportunities He is placing in my life as we speak. It is with mixed emotions, but no reservations, no regrets, and complete satisfaction in a great career that I make my retirement from football known. I will continue to teach through the end of the second semester at which time I will retire from a 42 year education career.
