We have NOT started our regular academic classwork, but we have been doing something that is just as important. We've been working on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids. We've done lessons every day to help us be the best second graders on the planet and great adults someday.
On MONDAY, we talked about what a happy and inspiring classroom looks like, sounds, like, and feels like. We, also, talked about the benefits of focusing on things we can control. Ask your child, "What is within your Circle of Control?"
On TUESDAY, we wrote our class mission statement. It is "Let's all LEAD, LEARN, and HAVE FUN together." We, also, discussed the importance of keeping the classroom clean and organized.
On Wednesday, our class talked about priorities. Ask your child to tell you about the fable, "The Ant and the Grasshopper." We also talked about staying focused on our most important things and saying no to less important things.
TODAY, we worked on Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood. Ask your child, "How do you use your ears, eyes, and heart to listen?"
We have a few more days of lessons to complete. So, we will be finishing our Leader In Me Kick-off by next Wednesday. With that being said, we will have spelling words and a group reading story next week, as well as math work.
