Degrees and Certifications:
Misty Dawn Norman
Misty moved to Beggs in 1994 and began attending the 7th grade at Beggs Middle School. “It was a really hard transition for me…. middle school is a challenging time for students; but as someone who moved around a lot, I am able to better sympathize with students who are new to our district and try to take that extra time to help them adjust.” After graduating from Beggs High School in 2000, Misty attended Tulsa Community College for 2 ½ years where she earned an Associate in Arts. During this time she also worked as a substitute teacher at Beggs Middle School before becoming a bank teller at American Heritage Bank in Beggs. “Along with my work experience, I was also able to volunteer as an ESL instructor at Jenks First Baptist Church…this was a very pivotal time in my life.” In 2002 Misty graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and immediately began teaching English at Beggs Middle School. She would later transition to the high school where she was blessed to teach alongside those who had inspired her in high school. In 2011, Misty was honored to be named the Teacher of the Year for the high school. “I began to notice during this time that I would have students knock on my door during class….some in tears needing a listening ear and guidance and some red-faced with anger needing a place to calm down.” It was these moments that brought her to the realization that she lacked training and prompted her to begin pursuing a degree in school counseling. Misty graduated from NSU in 2013 with a Master of Education and began serving as high school counselor at Beggs High School. “This C-Core grant has been a true answer to prayer and I am so thankful for the students, parents and community that I get to serve and the relationships that are made.”
Misty is the proud mommy of Spencer, Jarret and Bryant.
~The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. "The LORD is my portion," says my soul, "Therefore I have hope in Him."…Lamentations 3:22-24
