Mrs. Cindy Swearingen, Superintendent

 

 
 
Mrs. Cindy Swearingen is currently in her second year as Superintendent of Beggs School.   She has served as Project Director for the BEEM Project. The BEEM project refers to "Beggs Enhanced Emergency Management" plan.  With certification and training in many FEMA, US Department of Homeland Security, and US Department of Education Safe and Drug Free School course work, Mrs. Swearingen spearheaded  a new Emergency Response Plan for the District which provides  for systematic procedures in case of any disaster.   Mrs. Swearingen was one of 26 Administrators selected to attend the Educator's Leadershsip Academy 2008-2009.   Mrs. Swearingen has served as a technology coach for the K-20 Center which is housed at the University of Oklahoma.  She was the recipient of a $75,000 technology grant for Beggs Middle School while serving as Principal for six years. Prior to that, Mrs. Swearingen was housed at Beggs High School as Director of Special Services, District Test Coordinator and High School Counselor.
 
While at Okmulgee High School (1996-1999) Mrs. Swearingen was employed as  High School Counselor, Test Coordinator and Adjunct Instructor at OSU/Okmulgee for US History, Psychology, and Government.
Mrs. Swearingen worked for the Altus Public School system as both Elementary School Counselor and First Grade Teacher.  Other schools Mrs. Swearingen has taught in include Eldorado Public School and Olustee Public School.
 
Mrs. Swearingen attended Duke Public School . She attended Western Oklahoma State College in Altus for two years, earning an Associate Degree.   Her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, with Honors, was earned at Cameron University in Lawton, OK.  Mrs. Swearingen received her Master of Education Degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK in 1993 with additional certification in 1994.
 
Mrs. Swearingen is married to Bruce Swearingen, an alumni of Beggs High School and a Firefighter with the Okmulgee Fire Department. Bruce and Cindy  have three daughters. Kaitlin is a  graduate of Beggs High School and is currently attending NSU BA. Kassidy is a senior and Shiann is a freshman at Beggs High School.
Her hobbies include: running, scuba diving, water skiing, snow skiing, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
 
Mrs. Swearingen is an active member of the Beggs Lion's Club, Crossroads Baptist Church, National Association of  School Administrators, Cooperative Council of Oklahoma School Administrators,  Association of School Curriculum Directors and OkASBO.
